...I'm finishing my course-work and trying to get everything in on time
and to a good standard. Away from Uni work I'm currently reading Free:The Future of a Radical Price and also The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains
and i'm also working at Turtle Beach UK with the Technical Support team.
I've also just been invited to exhibit my final year project at the University of Teesside's ExpoTees "an annual exhibition of outstanding computing innovation, technology and design" more information here. Exciting.
...I'm in my final year at Teesside University studying for a BSc in Business System Design; an Information Technology degree which is geared towards the application of technology in a business environment.
My final year project is centred around developing a low-cost open-source warehouse stock control system. This combines a web-browser application with a dynamic SQL database and an input method. Whilst at University I'm really focused on broadening and adding depth to my technology knowledge and skills.
My studies revolve around IT Project Management, Advanced Database Creation & Management, Rapid Application Development using .Net and C# UML2.0, Online Business, Business Strategy, ITIL v3 & IT Service Management, Network Architecture and Enterprise IT.
I like to keep up with tech issues both in enterprise and consumer technology. Stuff that's making me lean in at the moment include Cloud Technology, SaaS, the move to a 'post-pc' environment - especially in enterprise and also emerging tech such as wearable computing.
I've also got nearly eight years' experience in Customer Services and Contact Team management, four of those working within IT support centres. I've worked for a range of blue-chip companies such as BUPA, Siemens IT Services and the BBC.
I'm also a student member of the Chartered Institute of IT - BCS
